Yom Kippur 2021

We are grateful to be able to gather both in person and through streaming this year.
We share this online memorial as a way for you to remember and hold loved ones
        in your heart.

The American Jewish poet, Debra Cash, has written:
          Build me up of memory
loving and angry, tender and honest.
Let my loss build me a heart of wisdom,
compassion for the world’s many losses
          Each hour is mortal
          and each hour is eternal
and each hour is our testament.
          May I create worthy memories
all the days of my life.
          (Mourner’s Kaddish for Everyday)

Poems like this one appear in our Yizkor memorial service at the end of Yom Kippur
at 4:30 pm. The poems and prayers of the Yikzkor service are invitations to remember
loved ones lost in this year and in years past in the midst of your sacred community.
Whether you watch the service online or attend in person, we hope that it will serve
as a moment for treasuring “worthy memories all the days of your life”

On behalf of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation, we wish you a sweet New Year.
May the memories of our loved ones be for a blessing.

Rabbi Andrew Busch Rabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen
